Siem Reap (FN), Dec. 8 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet reacted to ill-intended allegations accusing the Royal Government of forcing residents living illegally in the Angkor Archaeological Park to relocate to Run Ta Ek and Peak Sneng development areas.

The premier spoke on Friday morning (Dec. 8) during his meeting with nearly 3,000 people who voluntarily relocated to Run Ta Ek Area, Siem Reap province.

In response to false accusations made by some international organizations and politicians, the premier encouraged them to visit and witness the real situation of the areas.

"Cambodia may not be as wealthy as the United States, but this country has a leader and government committed to patient efforts for rapid growth while ensuring that no citizen is left behind. The government is working systematically to provide services and infrastructure. We are continuing to fulfill our responsibilities," the premier added.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei reaffirmed the Royal Government's commitment to preserving the Angkor Archaeological Park as the World Heritage Site. He also called for unity among Cambodian citizens.

Furthermore, Samdech Thipadei advised the relevant ministries, especially the Ministry of Agriculture and Tourism, to explore ways of improving the economy and livelihoods for residents in Run Ta Ek. He also recommended that the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training consider providing vocational training to the residents in the area.
