Kep (FN), Dec. 3 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet announced the implementation of a policy aimed at enhancing the Green Belt to fortify activities and enhance productivity in support of the tourism sector in designated areas.
The premier spoke at the closing ceremony of the 10th Sea Festival, held on Sunday (Dec. 3) in Kep province.
"I have outlined the policy during the meeting on how to strengthen our Green Belt. The Green Belt is designed to fortify activities and boost productivity, supporting tourism in designated areas. We aim to reduce the import of vegetables from outside, encouraging farmers, fishermen, and suppliers in Kep and coastal provinces to promote crop cultivation," the premier underscored.
On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei continued that the importance of the handicraft sector, stating that tourist destinations in Kep, Siem Reap, and other provinces can stimulate surrounding areas to produce souvenirs and materials, contributing to the growth of the tourism sector. Samdech Thipadei considerd this as a crucial task of the Royal Government to foster economic growth across all sectors, increase employment, and effectively and sustainably alleviate poverty.
Samdech Thipadei added the distinct nature of the tourism sector compared to other industries, noting that products must be locally produced and used, unlike industries that manufacture locally and export overseas.
