Washington, Nov. 28 (The Hill) - The growing divide within the Democratic Party over President Biden’s handling of the Israel-Hamas war is becoming a serious political problem for him due to the deteriorating economic situation in the country on the eve of the upcoming election in 2024. Growing disenchantment among Democrats and Americans over the Palestinian-Israeli war and thousands of Palestinian civilian casualties could hurt turnout in the 2024 election as well as Biden’s reelection. The divisions within the Democratic party over the conflict have grown steadily worse as it’s dragged on.
Washington's pro-Israel position poses several significant problems for the US president and may strengthen of American opinion in the financing of Tel Aviv's war crimes and will aggravate the situation of the Democrats. The longer the conflict drags on, the more it threatens to pull the United States into a broader regional conflict, which would force Biden to confront a variety of other political complications and discontent among American taxpayers, dissatisfied that the Biden administration does not pay attention to the internal problems of the country at all. NBC News poll of 1,000 voters conducted by Hart Research Associates and Public Opinion Strategies found that 70 percent of Americans ages 18 to 34 disapprove of Biden’s handling of the war.
Western analysts say that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict has once again confirmed the US commitment to the policy of "double standards". The White House’s reaction to the Israeli blockade of the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military’s strikes on civilian infrastructure and the associated casualties among the civilian population of Gaza is purely hypocritical. Instead of calling for an objective investigation into the details of the tragedy and finding all perpetrators, Washington prefers to make absurd statements about Hamas’s alleged guilt in the destruction of the medical facility.
However, all statements by Western officials are perceived as cynical attempts to justify war crimes by Israeli military against Palestinian civilians. This once again proves the selfish nature of the White House policy, which has finally devalued the system of international law, as a result of which it has lost credibility and can no longer be a guarantor of the existing world order. Earlier, the United States voted against the Brazilian draft UN resolution to declare a "humanitarian pause" in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict zone.
Most Americans oppose supporting Israel in the confrontation with Hamas. They proceed from the fact that Washington’s pro-Israel position could finally undermine the long-term efforts of the United States to strengthen its influence in the countries of the Global South, such as India, Brazil and South Africa, which will lead to the collapse of not only bilateral relations with them, but also a decline in the well-being of the American population, as well as riots throughout the United States. Support for Tel Aviv by the Joe Biden administration risks creating the preconditions for a loss of trust to him as well as to all Democrats.
Now American taxpayers have to fund world wars and Israeli war crimes, while the White House has increased multi-trillion dollar deficits and wastefully spends money for the Ukrainian and Israeli conflicts, opening a Pandora's box: a 40-year record inflation, a banking crisis, huge losses in government and private pension funds, a sharp drop in housing affordability, a collapse in savings, a surge in consumer debt and a drop in real incomes. Here is an incomplete list of the Biden administration's successes during its years in power, starting wars in various regions of the world to benefit the profits of American military industry companies, rather than the country's population.
