Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 23 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that through the implementation of the Priority Policy Program, key measures, and ongoing reforms, Cambodia anticipates achieving a 5.6% economic growth in 2023, and continue to grow faster in 2024 with a growth rate of 6.6%.

The premier spoke on Thursday morning (Nov. 23) during the Cambodia Outlook Conference 2023 at Sokha Hotel Phnom Penh.

"With the implementation of the Priority Policy Program, the adoption of key measures and reforms, both historical and planned, Cambodia is optimistic about reaching a 5.6 per cent economic growth in 2023, and continue to grow faster in 2024 with a growth rate of 6.6 per cent," the premier underscored.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei acknowledged that the growth outlook may face certain risks due to the current uncertain situation. In response, Cambodia is committed to maintaining a reformative spirit and proactive approaches to enhance resilience and promote economic diversification.

Taking this occassion, Samdech Thipadei expressed keen interest in the three sessions, especially focusing on policies to prepare Cambodia for achieving milestones in 2030 and beyond. Given Cambodia's open economy, both positive and negative external changes directly and indirectly impact the country's medium and long-term growth potential.

Samdech Thipadei added that Cambodia's remarkable and sustained economic growth, averaging around 7 percent annually over the past two decades. This has propelled Cambodia to attain the status of a lower-middle-income country in 2015, with the gross domestic product (GDP) skyrocketing from approximately USD 3.11 billion in 1998 to about USD 29.60 billion in 2022.
