Kampong Chhnang (FN), Nov. 22 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that the inauguration for the official use of the National Road No. 5 symbolizes the enduring 70-year diplomatic ties and cooperation between Cambodia and Japan, adding that the Royal Government pledges to further enhance the relations.

The premier spoke on Wednesday (Nov. 22) during an inauguration for the official use of National Road No. 5 from Prek Kdam to Battambang and groundbreaking for the construction from Serei Sophorn to Poipet.

"We are holding an inauguration ceremony and groundbreaking for the construction to expand National Road No. 5. This is a symbol of strengthening and expanding existing achievements and further pursuing new milestones. Today, we inaugurate with representatives of the Japanese government, marking the continuation of relations with our friendly countries," the premier underscored.

On this occasion, Samdech Thipadei reflected on his first attendance at the ASEAN Summit as the Prime Minister. Leaders from various countries inquired about the kingdom's stance on foreign policy. Samdech Thipadei reiterated that the kingdom's foreign policy is rooted in the principles of independence, mutual respect in accordance with international law, and mutual benefit.

Samdech Thipadei added that 2023 marks the 70th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Japan. Japan was one of the first countries to establish diplomatic ties with Cambodia when the kingdom gained independence 70 years ago, and this diplomatic relationship with Japan has endured for seven decades.
