Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 21 – Cambodia has refined nearly 9,000 kilograms of gold and earned more than USD14.4 million in royalties, Cambodian Minister of Mines and Energy Keo Rattanak spoke on Tuesday (Nov. 21) in a press conference on "Mining and Energy Policy in Cambodia" at Sokha Hotel Phnom Penh.
On the occasion, Minister Keo Rattanak stated that as of 17 November 2023, Cambodia produced 1,040 gold bars, equivalent to more than 8,979 kilograms, and received more than $ 14.4 million in royalties.
So far, the ministry has issued gold mining licenses to a total of nine companies, while six companies are operating and three others are setting up business sites, the minister added.
