Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 21 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet unveiled the Royal Government's ambitious plans to enhance citizens' livelihoods and propel the country into a high-income status by 2050.

The premier spoke on Tuesday morning (Nov. 21) during his 10th meeting with workers in Por Senchey district, Phnom Penh.

"In this seventh mandate, we have set five main objectives. Firstly, economic growth. We must strengthen our economic foundations across multiple sectors with a focus on job creation. Secondly, employment. Thirdly, equity. We aim to distribute resources to every citizen, especially the poorest, to enhance their livelihoods and reduce poverty. This is the primary focus of the Royal Government's Pentagonal Strategy Phase I, with the ultimate goal of elevating our nation to high-income country by 2050. Fourthly, efficiency, and fifthly, sustainability," the premier underscored.

"A high-income country is not measured by how much money the government has, but by the average per capita income. Currently, our country is classified as a lower-middle-income country. While we celebrate this achievement, our ambition is to make our citizens more prosperous. The term 'development' signifies ensuring that the benefits are distributed to the next generation," the premier added.

The Royal Government aims to elevate Cambodia to a high-middle-income country by 2030 and a high-income country by 2050.
