Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 20 – Chairman of the Universal Peace Federation (UPF) Charles S. Yang commended the visionary policy of unification implemented by Samdech Techo Hun Sen to quench the flames of war and division in Cambodia. He lauded this effort as an exemplary and epic undertaking that should serve as a model for nations grappling with conflicts and divisions.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet received a courtesy call from the UPF Chairman on Monday afternoon (Nov. 20) at the Peace Palace.
During the meeting, Charles S. Yang thanked Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet for taking the time to allow him and the delegation to pay a courtesy call and handed over a congratulatory letter from Hak Ja Han Moon, Co-founder of the UPF to Samdech Thipadei on his appointment as Cambodian Prime Minister.
Charles Yang also commended the conduct of the 2023 general election in Cambodia, noting it as free, fair, and just. He briefed Samdech Thipadei about the completed work activities of the UPF in the coordination and maintenance of global peace and sought the support of Samdech Thipadei on the World Peace Charter of the UPF.
In response, Samdech Hun Manet welcomed Charles Yang and the delegation to visit Cambodia again, as this is an opportunity to further strengthen and expand the cooperation between Cambodia and UPF.
He also thanked UPF for sending 115 delegates from 30 countries to observe the 7th National Assembly election on 23 July 2023, as well as for sending a congratulatory letter on the victory of the Cambodian People's Party. He also thanked the chairman for his congratulatory message.
During the meeting, Samdech Thipadei applauded the pivotal role of the UPF, acknowledging it as a bridge in mediating disputes between states and facilitating peaceful solutions. He underscored the Royal Government of Cambodia's significant contribution to the World Peace Charter of UPF, emphasizing the shared goal of building peace, unity, and societal development.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet thanked UPF for donating medical equipment to the Samdech Techo Young Volunteer Doctors Association (TYDA) in the campaign against COVID19 and expressed hope for the continued promotion of existing cooperation and the exploration of new collaborative initiatives to enhance the well-being of the Cambodian people.
