Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 20 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet said that the Royal Government shall review the balance between the agricultural sector's consumers and producers to ensure price equilibrium.
The premier spoke on Monday (Nov. 20) during the announcement of the 5th and 6th priority policy programs of the seventh-mandate Royal Government at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries.
"When discussing agriculture, we must always consider the delicate balance between consumers and producers. Final products cannot be priced excessively high, as it contributes to inflation. Therefore, we must bridge the gap to ensure the benefits of farmers while maintaining a balanced market price for products [...] Farmers aspire for higher rice prices, while consumers seek affordability. Therefore, the Royal Government must work to ensure price equilibrium," underscored the premier.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet pointed out the necessity for the Royal Government to regularly monitor product price inflation. In addressing this concern, the Minister of Commerce always reports daily to the Royal Government to make it easier to solve the inflation problem on multiple goods.
