Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 20 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that integrating farmers' communities and establishing modern agricultural communities are crucial to enhance community production, ensure efficient production processes, and facilitate the Royal Government's implementation of various interventions.

The premier spoke on Monday (Nov. 20) during the announcement of the 5th and 6th priority policy programs of the seventh-mandate Royal Government, at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.

"The concept behind structuring and implementing this policy is to establish modern agricultural communities. The term 'modern agricultural community' encompasses not only access to resources and modern technology but also modern thinking and collaborative approaches. […] It prompts us to reflect on whether, we could not achieve production independently”, Samdech Thipadei underscored.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined that economies of scale must be done because without scale, competitiveness in global markets is compromised. To compete with other exporters in similar markets, thousands of families need to unite and form a community, enabling the state to provide substantial assistance, whether in infrastructure development or other interventions.

"Economies of scale are crucial in competition, and our goal is to transform a family farming to modern and large-scale industrial agriculture. This transformation requires individual farmers to join a modern agricultural community with the mindset of competitiveness and unity in adopting a common policy package. This collective effort aims to make our region more competitive, bolster the economy, and enhance the agricultural sector's competitiveness both domestically and internationally. Efficient production and supply chain management hinge on this coordination”, Samdech Thipadei underlined.

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also reflected on his time in the military, where he actively pursued agricultural development goals by uniting the land of army families for collective farming and address land scarcity. He also considered the market by establishing sales partnerships to ensure quality and adequate production to meet the demands of the export market.
