Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 20 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet underlined that the recruitment of civil servants must adhere to the principle of "pass with pride, fail without regret”, speaking on Monday (Nov. 20) at the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries.

"Currently, we are planning to recruit 1,600 civil servants. To date, we have received almost 10,000 registered candidates. I have made some adjustments to the conditions. Initially, the requirement was to have a bachelor's degree, which I deemed too strict. While we prefer candidates with bachelor's degrees, we also want to provide opportunities for those with practical experience in the sector, especially local citizens. For example, an NGO official with agricultural skills," the premier underscored.

"We must ensure fairness and transparency, and guarantee that candidates with the necessary abilities pass the exam. Out of the 10,000 candidates, only 250 will be selected. Therefore, we must adhere to the principle of 'pass with pride, fail without regret'," the premier continued.

It is important to note that Cambodia has 1,550 communes engaged in agricultural activities, with most being rich in rice production (1,000 communes), comprising about 2 million farming households. To ensure that farmers in all communes receive agricultural services, the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries plans to deploy 1,600 commune/Sangkat agriculture officials nationwide.
