Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 17 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that the seventh-mandate Royal Government is committed to carrying forward the tradition and policy of the previous mandates against extremist ideologies or politics.

The premier spoke on Friday (Nov. 17) during a Preah Sokunveary Ceremony to Supreme Patriarch, held at Champus Kaek pagoda in Phnom Penh.

"I am delighted that our country experiences no religious conflict, a factor that contributes to community harmony. In the seventh-mandate, the Government will continue the traditions and policies maintained for the past 40 years. Ensuring the observance, promotion, and freedom of all religions, as well as striving for religious harmony, remains a pivotal element in sustaining peace. We are committed to eliminating any extremist policies or views that threaten peace."

While many countries adopt ceasefire policies, some still engage in conflict due to deep-seated mistrust. Samdech emphasized that certain conflicts persist due to a lack of understanding and the absence of a win-win policy. The cessation of hostilities requires both the creation and end of war, accompanied by a genuine desire for resolution.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet underlined that win-win policy provides understanding, trust and guarantees a lasting peace. Some regions, as depicted in the media, continue to grapple with conflicts spanning 30 or 40 years due to the complexity of resolving issues rooted in mistrust, particularly those involving religious differences.
