Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 14 – French President Emmanuel Macron reaffirmed the commitment to Cambodia's cultural sector, especially to assisting the kingdom in the project to renovate and expand the National Museum and the project to restore the bronze statue of Vishnu to be displayed in France, along with some other artifacts.
President Emmanuel Macron paid a royal audience on Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni at the Élysée Presidential Palace on 13 November 2023.
Taking this occasion, the king thanked France for assisting socio-economic in Cambodia, which reflected France's concern for the kingdom. The king also thanked France for its important role in continuing the intergovernmental mechanism on the conservation and sustainable development of the Angkor Archaeological Park for another ten years (2023-2032), which was established in 1993 under the initiative and appeal of the Cambodian late King Father Norodom Sihanouk. This initiative remains the top priority of each generation of the Royal Government.
Emmanuel Macron considers the success of the intergovernmental mechanism on the preservation and sustainable development of the Angkor Archaeological Park a model of multilateralism.
In response to the king's request, French President Emmanuel Macron promised to send technicians to study and renovate Pavillon Napoleon III on the grounds of the Royal Palace.
