Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 14 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet encouraged economically disadvantaged parents to motivate their children to receive vocational and technical training to get practical skills essential for securing employment and stable income.
The premier spoke at the launching of "voluntary social security program" and "technical and vocational education and training" for poor and vulnerable households, held on Tuesday (Nov. 14) at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet instructed the Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training to collaborate with various stakeholders in promoting training opportunities for poor and vulnerable families and individuals in both formal and informal economies. The emphasis is on widespread dissemination and efficient use of digital enrollment programs to facilitate easy access for the target group.
"I would like to encourage parents, guardians of youth from poor and vulnerable families to actively support and facilitate their family members in enrolling and attending school regularly which will equip them with practical skills that can secure a decent job and stable income”, Samdech Thipadei underscored.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet continued, “ensuring the quality of training is crucial. […] Therefore, it requires the efforts of the ministry-institutions, but also the active involvement from the families and youth themselves.”
At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also urged young people undergoing vocational training to stay committed and complete their studies.
