Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 14 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet stated that providing technical and vocational education and training (TVET) for youth from poor and vulnerable households aims to equip them with knowledge and skills necessary for employment or career development.

The premier spoke at the launching of the "Voluntary Social Security Program" and "Technical and Vocational Education and Training" for poor and vulnerable households, held on Tuesday morning (Nov. 14) at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.

"Generally, the initiative reflects the steadfast commitment of the Royal Government to equip underprivileged youth with the knowledge and skills necessary for employment or entrepreneurship,” stated the premier.

Samdech Thipadei continued, “this initiative will teach them how to fish and allow them to choose the type of fish they wish to pursue.”

As one of the kingdom’s national economic strategies, TVET is critical for improving people's livelihoods and providing Cambodian workforces or human resources with the knowledge, competence, skills, working attitudes, professional ethics, high productivity, and competitiveness needed for lifetime employment.
