Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 13 – Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet officially designated Kulen Mountain as a natural tourism destination, speaking at the 19th Government-Private Sector Forum, held on Monday (Nov. 13) at the Peace Palace.

Samdech Hun Sen also instructed the Ministry of Tourism to cooperate with relevant ministries, institutions and the private sector to study the proposals of people living in natural tourism areas to examine the availability of products for businesses.

Kulen Mountain possesses significant natural resources, including cultural, economic, and social aspects. It features a dense and semi-dense forest ecosystem housing a total of 779 species, including 28 endangered species and 10 endangered plant species, listed on the IUCN Red List.

Kulen Mountain is a relatively high mountain range located south of the Dangrek mountain range, stretching approximately 40 km from the northwest to the southeast, about 48 km north of Siem Reap with the highest peak reaching 487 meters.

It should be noted that the Pentagon Strategy-Phase I of the seventh-mandate Royal Government of Cambodia is to ensure the sustainability of socio-economic development and building resilience to climate change. This involves promoting investment attraction in high-value-added and green industries for sustainable development and environmental preservation.
