Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 13 – In response to the tourism industry's appeal, the Royal Government considers extending border passes to entice a greater number of tourists. As a pilot initiative, the province of Siem Reap is being considered for the expansion of tourist destinations, starting from 2024.

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet spoke at the 19th Government-Private Sector Forum (G-PSF), held on Monday (Nov. 13) at the Peace Palace

"Regarding the request to expand the scope of the border pass, the Royal Government approved this request for discussion," the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei also discussed with Thai Prime Minister Srettha Thavisin and agreed to review the possibility of Thai citizens being allowed to enter Siem Reap without their passports.

"The expansion of the border pass can be tried in Siem Reap from 2024. Then, we can further review whether it can be implemented in other tourist destinations. Besides Siem Reap-Angkor, Cambodia also has many other tourist destinations, such as Sambor Prei Kuk temple in Kampong Thom province," the premier continued.
