Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 9 – Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni recalled the Royal Crusade of Cambodian Late King Father Norodom Sihanouk, who fought for independence on 9 November 1953.
The king spoke during the 70th Anniversary of National Independence Day on Thursday morning (Nov. 9) in Phnom Penh.
"We shall remember the Royal Crusade of Cambodian late king father Norodom Sihanouk, who had worked hard for Cambodian independence since 1952, and Cambodia gained full independence on 9 November 1953," the King underscored.
In addition, the king stated that the celebration is now a meaningful national event that responds appropriately to the mission and sacrifice of the highest national conscience of the late king father. The late king father always admired the destiny of our nation and the people of Cambodia, who survived the disasters of war and achieved peace and rapid progress in all areas in accordance with the mechanism of great intelligent management.
After gaining full independence, the Cambodian people have the opportunity to build the nation. Late king father Norodom Sihanouk had developed the nation to develop in all areas nationwide.
"During that period, the Kingdom of Cambodia gained a great reputation on the international stage. Many countries considered the Kingdom of Cambodia as a neutral country and a peaceful island in Southeast Asia," the king added.
