Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 7 - Cambodia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs welcomed distinguished guests from the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child on 6 November 2023.
Under secretary of state for Cambodia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs An Sokkhoeurn received a courtesy call from Ann Skelton and Sopio Kiladze, members of the Committee, along with UNICEF representative Will Parks.
During the meeting, An Sokkhoeurn reaffirmed the Cambodian government's unwavering commitment to implementing the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). He emphasized the government's dedication to collaborative efforts with all stakeholders, including the Committee and UNICEF, to advance children's rights to survival, development, protection, and participation.
An Sokkhoeurn also presented concrete actions and significant progress made in response to the Committee's recommendations, showcasing Cambodia's steadfast dedication to the CRC's objectives.
The Committee's members and the UNICEF representative commended the substantial efforts exerted by the Cambodian government and acknowledged its resolute commitment to CRC implementation. The Committee and UNICEF pledged their ongoing cooperation with Cambodia in its pursuit of CRC implementation and the fulfillment of the Committee's recommendations.
The meeting also provided an opportunity for both sides to discuss various issues that have arisen during the CRC's implementation and the recommendations put forth by the Committee.
