Beijing, China (FN), Nov. 6 – Suited in the heart of Beijing Olympic Park, the Chinese Archaeological Museum captivated the great interest of the Cambodian think-tank delegation and the press with a splendid array of remarkable artifacts showcasing the evolution of Chinese civilization.
The tour was made on the sidelines of the Third China-Cambodia Think Tank High-level Forum, hosted by the Royal Academy of Cambodia (RAC) and Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS).
The exhibition is divided into five sections representing China's political, economic, cultural and social aspects as well as exchanges with other countries from the Paleolithic period until modern times. The Paleolithic section features stone tools used by early humans, while the Neolithic section showcases pottery and other artifacts. The Shang dynasty section displays bronze vessels, the Zhou dynasty section features jade carvings, and the Qin dynasty section includes terracotta warriors. The Han dynasty section is home to silk, the Tang dynasty section features paintings, the Song dynasty section showcases porcelain, and the Ming dynasty section exhibits furniture. Finally, the Qing dynasty section features architecture from the last imperial dynasty of China.
The Cambodian delegation was particularly fascinated by the ancient cultural relics on display, especially those from the early stages of Chinese civilization. These included a pottery sculpture of human face dating back 4,700 to 7,000 years and a turquoise-inlaid bronze plaque with a mask from the Erlitou site in Henan province, which is over 3,500 years old.
Other highlights of the exhibition include remains of a horse and chariot from the Yinxu Ruins, the site of the capital of the late Shang Dynasty. These remarkable artifacts offer a glimpse into the advanced transportation and warfare technology of the Shang Dynasty.
