Siem Reap (FN), Nov. 5 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet considered the 7th Friend of Asia-Pacific WAGGGS General Assembly not only a regional event in the Asia-Pacific region, but also a historical and significant event for the Girl Guides Association of Cambodia (GGAC).

The premier spoke during the opening ceremony of the 7th Friend of Asia-Pacific WAGGGS General Assembly on Sunday morning (Nov. 5).

On the occasion, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet stated that the Girl Guides Association of Cambodia has been entrusted to host the General Assembly which will show all members the progress of the association under the shadow of peace, stability, and national unity in Cambodia.

"The organization of the 7th Friend of Asia-Pacific WAGGGS General Assembly is not only an Asia-Pacific event, but also a historical and significant event for the Girl Guides Association of Cambodia. We are confident to host this General Assembly and to present to all members the progress of the association under the roof of peace, stability and national unity in Cambodia”, Samdech Thipadei underscored.

The premier added that hosting this event is also an important experience for Cambodia in preparing to host the 39th WAGGGS Conference in 2026.

At the same time, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet also expressed his deep gratitude to the Girl Guides Association of Cambodia (GGAC) for their generous efforts to organize this General Assembly and thanked the Siem Reap provincial administration, the armed forces, and relevant authorities at all levels that have jointly work together to maintain order, security and safety for the 7th General Assembly.

In addition, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet praised and appreciated the noble mission of the Asia-Pacific WAGGGS in promoting the local girl scout and girl guides movement as well as joining the WAGGGS in educating and training girls, and young women to become capable and confident leaders.
