Phnom Penh (FN), Nov. 3 – Information minister Neth Pheaktra and German ambassador to Cambodia Stefan Messerer met to discuss cooperation on human resource and capacity building in the field of media and combatting fake news.

The meeting was held at the Ministry of Information on 2 November 2023.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on the management of information through legal frameworks and professional codes of ethics to strengthen the quality of journalism in Cambodia.

Neth Pheaktra briefed the ambassador the progress of the ministry's work related to institutional modernization, and the plan to amend Law on the Press which had not been touched over the past 28 years.

Minister Pheaktra also raised the importance of quality reporting and the fight against fake news that are harmful to the national security.

German ambassador to Cambodia Stefan Messerer praised minister Neth Pheaktra for his initiatives contributing to development of Cambodia's media sector.
