Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 27 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet stated that the citizens can choose to resolve their disputes, on a voluntary basis, with the newly adopted non-judicial reconciliation mechanism, which acts as an additional mechanism to resolve court cases.
The premier spoke in the weekly cabinet meeting, held on Friday morning (Oct. 27) at the Peace Palace.
Samdech Thipadei underscored that, "this work [the non-judicial reconciliation mechanism] is very important to ensure that there is no overlap in the mechanism of our formation." He added that, "please strengthen and jointly cooperate with what is in the existing mechanism. All this new work is to provide additional options for the people in solving problems, and please be noted that the implementation of this new mechanism is not to force people to use this service, but as an additional option for our citizens."
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet hopes that this new mechanism will be able to help the people, and calls for widespread dissemination of information on this new mechanism to the people.
The Council of Ministers fully approved the draft Royal Decree on the establishment, organization and operation of the National Authority for Non-judicial Reconciliation on Friday morning (Oct, 27).
Establishment of the National Authority for Non-judicial Reconciliation as an alternative mechanism to the dispute resolution system in Cambodia aimed at improving the quality, efficiency and speed of dispute resolution through out-of-court mediation in order to reduce congestion in the case.
