Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 25 – Samdech Techo Hun Sen, president of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) signed a “Cooperation and Alliance Agreement” at the CPP’s headquarters on Wednesday morning (Oct. 25) with 27 other political parties.

The Cooperation and Alliance Agreement consists of eight points:

1. Strengthen good cooperation with equality, equal rights, and respect for the independence and autonomy of each party for the benefit of the nation and the people of Cambodia.

2. Commit to abiding by the Constitution of the Kingdom of Cambodia, protect the constitutional monarchy, and promote multi-party liberal democracy, human rights, respect for law and social justice, and strengthen national unity to build an independent, peaceful, free, democratic, neutral and progressive in accordance with the motto of the nation, religion, the king.

3. Commit to protecting the independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Cambodia, to preserve peace, political stability and security, and social order in order to ensure the process of sustainable socio-economic development and to improve the living standards of citizens in a harmonious society.

4. Collaborate to prevent and eliminate extremist politics from the Kingdom. Absolutely oppose the tactics and actions of any medium that seeks to destroy national unity, destabilize society, destroy democracy, and attempt to bring about any change that is opposite to the constitution and law.

5. Good cooperation to ensure that the election process in accordance with the principles of multi-party liberal democratic system at national and sub-national levels, at global and non-global level, is conducted in accordance with the provisions of the constitution and the laws in free, fair, and secure.

6. Honestly implement and take the national interest as the principle of alliance and cooperation in mutual support, do not oppose each other in any way, do not hold election campaign against each other, and do not ally with any political party or any political group that opposes a partner in its alliance.

7. Build and strengthen cooperation to implement to achieve good results in the content of this agreement. In case of problems, a representative shall be assigned to the meeting to resolve the issue peacefully.

8. Be open to other legitimate political parties that support and wish to join the cooperation and alliance between political parties in Cambodia in the spirit of this agreement.

This Agreement is effective from the date of signing.
