Siem Reap (FN), Oct. 16 – Cambodian senior official confirmed that a 1-billion-dollar Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport (SAI) is a great achievement, that is born of Cambodia-China iron-clad friendship policy.
Minister in charge of the State Secretariat of Civil Aviation Mao Havannall spoke on Monday (Oct. 16) during the official launching ceremony, held in the airport.
"The construction of the Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport was completed on time with an investment capital of USD 1.1 billion. This great achievement is born of iron-clad friendship and diamond hexagon cooperation between Cambodia and China, initiated by Samdech Techo Hun Sen and Chinese president Xi Jingping, and maintained by the new Royal Government of Cambodia led by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet”, Mao Havannall stated.
The deputy prime minister Vongsey Vissoth thanked the Chinese government, especially the investment on the new Siem Reap-Angkor International Airport, a legacy that promotes economic, trade, cultural and social development for the Cambodian people and its historic achievements that reflects the willingness in iron-clad cooperation between both countries.
"On this historic day, on behalf of the prime minister, I wish the friendship of our two countries (Cambodia-China) to be stronger and more stable," the deputy prime minister added.
The new airport is located in Kriel Pong village, Por Pel commune and Provall village, Tayek commune, Sotr Nikum district, Siem Reap province.
The official inauguration ceremony will be held on 16 November 2023 presided over by Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet.
