Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 11 – Laotian ambassador to Cambodia Buakeo Phumvongsay congratulated Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet on his recent appointment.
The ambassador is confident that Cambodia will continue to prosper under Samdech Thipadei's leadership.
The premier received a courtesy call from the Laotian ambassador to Cambodia Buakeo Phumvongsay on Wednesday (Oct. 11) in the Peace Palace.
The ambassador underlined that the Lao-Cambodian good neighborhood friendship has a long history. With this strong foundation, the cooperation between the two nations and the peoples will continue to strengthen and expand in addition to the existing good cooperation in the fields of education, tourism, and industry.
For his part, Samdech Thipadei welcomed the presence of the ambassador and his colleagues at the meeting to discuss the direction of further strengthening and expanding cooperation. Premier Hun Manet also recalled the fruitful outcomes of previous meetings between Samdech Thipadei and the Laos prime minister twice on the sidelines of the 43rd ASEAN Summit in Indonesia and the 20th China-ASEAN Expo in China.
Taking this occasion, the premier underscored that although the official diplomatic ties between the two countries have lasted only 67 years, the relationship between the people and the people has a long history.
Samdech Thipadei also recalled the outcome of the meeting with the Laos president during his official visit to Laos in 2022. At that time, the Lao president expressed his desire to enhance relations between the government, parliamentary institutions, the people, and the army, as well as between the youth of the two countries. Regarding military cooperation, Samdech Thipadei encouraged to implementation of the "Cambodia-Laos-Vietnam Joint Disaster Relief Exercise" which was established in September 2022.
Lastly, both sides agreed on the direction of further strengthening and expanding cooperation in various fields such as energy, tourism, trade, border demarcation, bridge-road infrastructure connectivity, and so on.
