Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 10 – Cambodian prime minister, Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said that workers in both formal and informal economies are all Cambodians that require high attention from the Royal Government.

"In the economic definition system, formal and informal economies are different, but for us, they are all Cambodian people. Therefore, we have an obligation to work hard to assist everyone and that is the main goal of the Royal Government,” Hun Manet underlined.

Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet said that workers in the informal economy is also a big driving force for the national economy. Globally, more than 70 percent of job opportunities are from the informal sector, and in Cambodia, too, the scale of this consideration is important.

"During the COVID19 outbreak, we saw that the poor households and those in the informal economy were very vulnerable," the premier added.

On the occasion, the premier also said that in the past, it was difficult to identify and help those in the informal economy due to unclear information management.
