Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 10 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet said that the launching of the National Strategy for Informal Economic Development 2023-2028 is killing three animals with one arrow.

The three animals refer to reducing poverty and social inequality, strengthening socio-economic resilience, and promoting economic growth.

The premier spoke during the launching of the National Strategy on Informal Economic Development 2023-2028 on Tuesday morning (Oct. 10) at the Sokha Hotel Phnom Penh.

"The objective of the National Strategy for Informal Economic Development 2023-2028 is to help our citizens in the informal [economic] sector. [...] By implementing the strategy, we can kill three animals with one arrow," the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei explained the three animals as follows:

First, reducing poverty and social inequality. Reducing the gap between the poor and the rich, and increasing equitable development policies.

Second, strengthening the socio-economic resilience. The informal and poor people are the most vulnerable group due to the COVID19 outbreak and the impact of inflation. Therefore, the government shall support them by strengthening resilience through providing social protection policies and other benefits.

Third, promoting economic growth. The people in the informal economy are essential to the national economy. If the Royal Government helps them grow, the national economy will also grow.
