Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 6 – ASEAN secretary general Kao Kim Hourn joined ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry, delegates, and development partners in a technical visit organised by the Malaysian Government on 5 October 2023 in Kuala Lampur.
The visit included various sites at the National Botanic Gardens Shah Alam that showcase Malaysian programmes to promote environmental conservation through technological applications. Kao Kim Hourn participated in planting herbs and trees, releasing fish, and observing the use and operation of drones for agricultural practices.
ASEAN secretary general Kao Kim Hourn also had a bilateral meeting with Cambodian agricultural minister Dith Tina on the sidelines of the 45th ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry (AMAF) meeting and related meetings in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Kao Kim Hourn congratulated Dith Tina on his recent appointment and discussed Cambodia’s contribution to ASEAN’s project on antimicrobial use in livestock production and ensuring food safety in the region.
ASEAN secretary-general Kao Kim Hourn also held a bilateral meeting with the AMAF chair and Malaysian minister of Agriculture and Food Security Datuk Seri Mohamad bin Sabu to personally congratulate Malaysia for successfully hosting the 45th ASEAN Ministers on Agriculture and Forestry (AMAF) meeting and related meetings. Both sides discussed Malaysia’s leadership in formulating the ASEAN’s Post 2025 Vision and Strategic Plan for Cooperation on Food, Agriculture, and Forestry (SP-FAF).
ASEAN secretary-general Kao Kim Hourn met with Japanese minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Ichiro Miyashita and extended congratulations to Japan on the occasion of the 50th Year of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation and for the progress in the implementation of the ASEAN-Japan Midori Cooperation Plan (AJMCP).
