Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 5 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet encouraged school vendors to sell healthy foods to improve students’ health.

The premier spoke on Thursday (Oct. 5) on the occasion of the 26th National Teacher's Day, held at Institute of Technology of Cambodia.

"Some foods pose negative impacts on children from such a young age. In the long term, [unhealthy foods] will cause serious diseases, such as diabetes. Therefore, measures shall be taken on a voluntary basis in their respective schools," the premier underscored.

Samdech Thipadei also urged the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports to expand the scope of the "National Nutrition Program" organised by the Royal Government to support the well-being of students in Cambodia.
