Phnom Penh (FN), Oct. 3 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet announced that the Royal Government of the 7th mandate, led by the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP), vowed to not create new law on taxation.
The premier spoke on Tuesday morning (Oct. 3) during a meeting with nearly 20,000 workers in Phnom Penh.
“I would like to reaffirm to the citizens the commitment and policy of the CPP on non-taxation. First, we will continue the tax-free policy on household agricultural land. Second, we offer tax-free agricultural equipment. Third, we do not tax the agricultural products. We do not tax the real estate that is cheaper than 100 million Riels (USD 2500). Transferring of property as a gift or inheritance will also be tax-free. ” the premier underscored.
Premier Hun Manet underlined, "I would like to reaffirm to the people the commitment and continued policy of the People's Party on non-taxation. First, we will continue to tax the agricultural land as a family. Second, we do not tax the agricultural equipment, third, we do not tax the agricultural products, we do not tax the real estate, which is cheaper than 100 million Riels or USD 5,000. We also do not collect road tax for motorcycles or tricycles.”
Taxes on small vendors in the markets nationwide have also been exempted, the premier added.
