Phnom Penh (FN), Sep. 20 – Cambodian senior minister in charge of special missions Ouch Borith said Cambodia takes great pride in being a part of the Global Development Initiative (GDI).
Cambodian senior minister in charge of special missions Ouch Borith addressed the High-Level Meeting on Global Development Initiative (GDI) Cooperation Outcomes – GDI for SDGs: Actions and Progress on 19 September in New York.
In his address, Ouch Borith underscored Cambodia’s enthusiastic participation in the GDI, which has garnered support from over 100 countries and organizations in just two years since its inception. The kingdom takes great pride in being a part of this initiative and is motivated by the substantial progress of the GDI whose fundamental principles are to prioritize development, adopt a people-centered approach, ensure no one is left behind, and build global development partnerships. He also conveyed sincere appreciation to the People’s Republic of China for its leadership and unwavering commitment to the GDI.
The senior minister emphasized the significant role of the GDI's development projects in contributing to the Kingdom’s national development goal- a vision of Cambodia becoming a high-middle income nation by 2030 and a high-income nation by 2050.
Ouch Borith reaffirmed Cambodia’s commitment to collective action and decisive measures aimed at addressing challenges and accelerating progress while leaving no country or individual behind. He concluded by expressing Cambodia’s readiness to work closely with all partners to unlock the full potentials of the GDI, thereby advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and fostering a brighter future for all.
