Beijing (FN), Sep. 15 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Manet aimed to see investments from Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. in producing electronics components and digital technology training in Cambodia.
Samdech Thipadei Hun Manet received a courtesy call by chairman of Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. Liang Hua on 14 September 2023 in Beijing, China.
Liang Hua warmly welcomed and thanked Samdech Thipadei for spending his valuable time meeting with him. Moreover, he congratulated Samdech Thipadei on his recent appointment as premier.
Taking this occasion, Liang Hua thanked Samdech Thipadei and the Royal Government for always caring and supporting Huawei. He also briefed Huawei’s achievements that has cooperated with companies and partners in Cambodia over the past 25 years in developing digital infrastructure, telecommunications, and smart systems.
For his part, premier Hun Manet thanked Huawei for cooperating with relevant ministries and institutions to help develop Cambodian telecommunications sector for more than two decades.
Samdech Thipadei hoped that Huawei will bring new advanced technology from China to Cambodia and mentioned that the Royal Government will maintain its good relations and cooperation between Cambodia and China to support, facilitate, and encourage more investment in Cambodia.
Samdech Thipadei also mentioned the importance of peace and political stability in Cambodia, which is the foundation to boost investor confidence in Cambodia.
Premier Hun Manet underlined that the development of digital infrastructure is crucial, which requires the Royal Government and the private sector to jointly work in developing this sector.
Samdech Thipadei welcomed Huawei's investment in new technologies and digital infrastructure development; and encouraged Huawei to consider investment opportunities in other areas, such as producing electronic components.
Both sides discussed the training of human resources on digital skills. Huawei’s side expressed interest in provide digital trainings from the primary to the university level.
In the past, Huawei has collaborated with many universities in Cambodia to provide digital and technology trainings to Cambodian students.
