Phnom Penh (FN), Aug. 7 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that he will continue to be prime minister for 15 more days then he will become father of the prime minister and he will continue serving in other positions for at least until 2033.

The premier tweeted on Monday (Aug 7).

“On 7 August 2023, the king has issued a royal decree appointing a new prime minister to lead the country after I decided to step down to give chance to the successors to lead.

Looking back through time, I was the youngest prime minister (32 years old) and the longest-serving in the world.

Counting until 22 August 2023, the date which I will officially step down, and counting from 14 January 1985, the date which I officially became the prime minister, I have been a prime minister for 38 years 7 months and 8 days, an equivalent to 463 months 2,014 weeks and 14,099 days.

If counting my work serving the government from 8 January 1979 in the position of minister of foreign affairs, deputy prime minister, acting prime minister, and prime minister, as of 22 August 2023, I have served for 44 years 7 months 14 days, an equivalent to 535 months 2,328 weeks and 16,297 days.

I will continue to be prime minister for 15 more days then I will be promoted as father of the prime minister. It is not the end yet. I will continue serving in other positions for at least until 2033, which I will then serve for more than half a century.

Thank you, my dear wife, for raising this unfortunate child during the hardest time until he becomes the nation’s top leader today”.

On 26 July 2023, premier Hun Sen announced to step down from premiership. He will become president of the Senate in the new term from 25 February 2024, and also serve as president of the supreme privy council to the king.
