Pursat (FN), Jun. 30 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen announced that the Royal Government of Cambodia will celebrate the 70th anniversary of Independence Day and its annual Water Festival on a large scale in Phnom Penh.

The premier spoke on Friday (Jun 30) during his meeting with nearly 7,000 workers in Pursat province.

The premier added that the suspension of the celebration last year was due to insufficient budget as Cambodia was the host of the ASEAN Summit and related summits.

“I would like to confirm in advance that there will be a big celebration of Water Festival and the 70th Independence Day in Phnom Penh this year,” the premier underlined.

On that occasion, Samdech also instructed the organising committee of the boat race to be prepared and informed throughout the country.

It should be noted that the 70th National Independence Day will be held on 9 November 2023 and the water festival will take place from 26 to 28 November 2023.
