Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 24 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen warned his compatriots to be vigilant in protecting themselves from HIV/AIDS as the number of new infections reached 1,400 cases in 2022, up by 300 cases in 2021.
The premier spoke on Saturday morning (Jun 24) during his meeting with nearly 20,000 workers in Phnom Penh.
“HIV/AIDS does not leave Cambodia. In 2022, the number of infections increase by 300 compared to 2021,” the premier underscored.
Lastly, Samdech called on citizens not to discriminate against people living with HIV/AIDS. Samdech also urged that if anyone suspects they have HIV/AIDS, they should hurry to get tested for HIV/AIDS free of charge.
According to Samdech, the new infections were found mainly in the gay men. Cambodia has not made any law to prohibit homosexuality and also does not make a law for same-sex marriage. If they love each other, there is no punishment.
