Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 20 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that he always remembers the misery of more than 40 years ago and reminded his children not to repeat it.
The premier spoke during a celebration of the 46th anniversary of Marching Toward National Salvation, held on Tuesday (June 20) at the Ministry of National Defense.
The premier recalled that 40 years ago, his life was very fragile when he left to Viet Nam and so was the life of his pregnant wife at home. Back then, people were killed and starved to death. For this matter, the premier reminded his children not to let Cambodia fall back into this misery again.
What happened from 20 June 1997 until 29 December 1998 is linked to the present, indicating that Cambodia has restored herself from a genocidal country to a higher middle-income country by 2030 and moving towards a high-income country by 2050.
On that occasion, Samdech stated that what he sacrificed was not just for his interest, for the interests of all Cambodian people.
