Takeo (FN), Jun. 11 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen amended the figures of the Cambodia's economic growth to 5.2 percent in 2022, and an estimated 5.6 percent in 2023, speaking on Sunday morning (Jun 11) during his meeting with nearly 20,000 workers in Takeo province.
This amendment was made after the premier’s speech writer used the outdated figures of the economic growth.
"I would like to take this opportunity to amend some figures from yesterday. Generally speaking, I do not have much time to review much information. I only reviewed some important information related to geopolitics. Yesterday (Jun 10), when I delivered my speech during the meeting with the members of Cambodian Oknha Association regarding Cambodia's economic growth, the speech writer used the outdated figures, which stated that Cambodia's economy was projected to grow by 6.6 percent in 2023, following an estimated 5.4 percent growth in 2022. However, these are outdated figures," the premier underscored.
"I would like to amend that Cambodia's economy grew by 5.2 percent in 2022 and is projected to grow by 5.6 percent in 2023," the premier added.
According to the Asian Development Bank, Cambodia’s economy is forecast to grow at 5.5% in 2023 and 6.0% in 2024 on a more robust tourism recovery and higher growth in the services sector.
