Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 9 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen officially announced the closing of the 12th ASEAN Para Games, which was held from 3-9 June 2023 in Cambodia.
The closing ceremony took place on Friday evening (Jun 9) at Morodok Techo National Stadium.
Premier Hun Sen announced, "In the name of the King of the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Royal Government and on my own behalf, I would like to announce the closing of the 12th ASEAN Paralympic Games (ASEAN Para Games).”
At the same time, Samdech also expressed his gratitude and appreciation to the Organizing Committee of the 12th ASEAN Para Games, ASEAN Para Sports Federation, and the delegations as well as Timor-Leste for jointly promoting the para athletes and providing full support for the Games in Cambodia.
Premier Hun Sen added that as the host, Cambodia has tried its best to ensure that the hosting of the Games will be held in accordance with the international norms and standards of sports for the disabled athletes.
On that occasion, the premier also hoped that the people of ASEAN and Timor-Leste, which has a total of more than 600 million people, will truly remember the spectacular memories of both the SEA Games and the ASEAN Para Games.
Samdech also informed his compatriots that after the glorious success as the host of the SEA Games and the ASEAN Para Games, and with the approval of the Olympic Council of Asia, Cambodia is ready to host the 5th Asian Youth Games in 2029.
