Qinzhou (FN), Jun. 9 – On 8 June 2023, Cambodian media delegation, including representatives from Fresh News, BTV, and TVK visited Beibu Gulf Port Qinzhou Automated Container Terminal, a landmark project of Beibu Gulf Port Smart Port Construction.
The visit is part of the five-day 2023 ASEAN Partners Media Cooperation Forum on Chinese Modernization, jointly hosted by the China Media Group (CMG) and the People's Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
2023 marks the 10th anniversary of the China-proposed Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and the 20th anniversary of the China-ASEAN Expo.
About Beibu Gulf Port Qinzhou Automated Container Terminal
The automated terminal is part of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and integral to the New International Land Sea Trade Corridor, connecting landlocked Chongqing by rail with Qinzhou in the west from where cargo can be shipped worldwide.
The automated terminal project investment is 7.1 billion yuan, and is implemented step by step in two phases. Among them, the first phase of the project is two 100,000-ton automated container terminal renovation projects for berths 7 and 8, with a total investment of 2.055 billion yuan. The total length of the coastline is 518.5 meters, and the design passing capacity 1 million TEUs, equipped with 5 automatic double-car quay cranes, 16 automatic double-cantilever rail cranes, and 30 intelligent guided vehicles (IGV). This phase of the project has been put into operation on 28 June 2022. The second phase of the project is the construction of berths 9 and 10, with a total investment of 4.185 billion yuan. Two 200,000-ton berths will be built. The total length of the coastline is 783 meters. The designed passing capacity is 1.6 million TEUs. There are 26 automated rail cranes and 42 intelligent guided vehicles, which are planned to be put into operation by the end of 2023.
As the fifth fully automated container terminal that has been put into operation in the country, Beibu Gulf Port Qinzhou Automated Container Terminal is equipped with advanced, intelligent, efficient and energy-saving automatic loading and unloading equipment and horizontal transportation equipment, research and development and application of terminal intelligent operating system (TOS system), automatic equipment control system (ECS system), Intelligent gate system (GOS system) and other automatic information systems, fully combined with artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, automatic control and other new-generation cutting-edge technologies, realize a high degree of informatization, standardization, and full automation of operations in container terminals.
Under the framework of jointly building the Belt and Road, the new land-sea corridor connects China and ASEAN countries through various modes of transportation, and the benefits will be shared by all countries.
"In recent years, the transportation network of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor has covered 335 ports in 113 countries and regions around the world, and the categories of cargo have increased from over 50 in 2017 to over 640," said Huang Jiangnan, station master of Qinzhougang East Railway Station under the China Railway Nanning Group Co., Ltd. as reported by local media.
