Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 8 – The Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement between Cambodia and the United Arab Emirates was officially signed on the Thursday afternoon (Jun 8) under the presidency of Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen at the Peace Palace.
The agreement was signed between Cambodian minister of commerce Pan Sosak and the minister foreign Trade of the UAEs Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi.
The Cambodia-UAE CEPA becomes the third bilateral free trade agreement after the Cambodia-China Free Trade Agreement (CCFTA), which entered into force on 1 January 2022, and Cambodia-Korea Free Trade Agreement (CKFTA), which came into force on 1 December 2022.
Premier Hun Sen said on Thursday morning (Jun 8) that the bilateral free trade agreement had played an essential role in expanding Cambodia's market and increasing the kingdom’s exports.
