Phnom Penh (FN), Jun. 5 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that Cambodia’s organization of the 32nd SEA Games and the 12th ASEAN Para Games has contributed to strengthening the unity and friendship of more than 600 million people of the ASEAN countries.
The premier spoke on Monday (June 5) during a graduation ceremony for students of the Royal University Of Law And Economics.
"By hosting the SEA Games and the ASEAN Para Games, we have contributed to the role of ASEAN as a responsible member in strengthening people-to-people relations and promotion of sports. We do not only host the Games for our own 17 million people, but we also contributed to strengthening relations among 600 million people of ASEAN," the premier underlined.
At the same time, Samdech added that it is the duty of all ASEAN members to host the 32nd SEA Games and the 12th ASEAN Para Games.
Regarding the hosting of the SEA Games, Samdech recalled his request to postpone the hosting of the Games because at that time, Cambodia needed funds to build infrastructures. However, Cambodia is able to host the Games in 2023.
On that occasion, premier Hun Sen said that for hosting the SEA Games, Cambodia has done a good job, and for the first time, Cambodia has offered free entry, free broadcasting rights and allowance for sports delegation.
