Sihanoukville (FN), May 1 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that Cambodia-Japan trade volume reached USD 1,948 million in 2022, of which Cambodia’s export volume to Japan was USD 1,173 million while the import was USD 774 million.
The premier spoke at a groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of Sihanoukville container terminal, held on Monday (May 1) in Sihanoukville province.
On that occasion, the premier hoped that during the tenure of the Japanese ambassador to Cambodia Ueno Atsushi, Cambodia's export volume to the Japanese market will increase, as both countries are also members of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP).
"Cambodia and Japan are members of the RCEP. Based on the existing bilateral relations, we need to further strengthen the relations in order to promote Cambodia's products in the Japanese market. I encourage to further work on this task for the mutual benefits of both countries," the premier underscored.
Cambodia's exports to Japan are footwear, car parts, and agricultural products. Japan's exports to Cambodia are machinery, automobiles, electronics, and agricultural machinery.
