The premier spoke at an inauguration of the Maternity Building of the National Children Hospital, held on Thursday morning (Apr 20) at the hospital.
The court refused to charge this official upon the complaint and when he was released, he even circled the victim’s house, the premier added.
Therefore, after receiving the information and the complaint for intervention, Samdech immediately signed a sub-decree to terminate the position of the official and handed over to the judiciary to take legal action.
On April 11, premier Hun Sen issued a sub-decree to terminate Bel Van Det. The premier also instructed the minister of justice to work with the court to prevent the perpetrator from being released on bail ahead of trial, for he may illegally use weapon to threaten others.
According to the video spread on social media in late March 2023, the deputy director general Bel Van Det was seen using a gun to threaten a student, 22, for honking to his car in Phnom Penh’s Russei Keo district.
