Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 31– Russian ambassador to Cambodia Anatoly Borovik said that the continuous assistance from the West, in particular the European Union and the United States, to Ukraine is prolonging the war, leading to further loss of life, displacement, and suffering for Ukrainian civilians.
Anatoly Borovik spoke at the press briefing themed "Russia-Cambodia Relations & other topical issues of Russian Foreign Policy”, held on Friday (Mar 31) at the Russian Embassy.

"Western countries have not stopped sending weapons assistance to the Kiev regime. On 20 March, the Pentagon pointed out that since the launching of the special military operations, the US’s assistance to Ukraine has reached more than USD 32.5 billion," Anatoly underscored.
He continued that according to US secretary of defense Lloyd Austin, nine NATO countries have agreed to provide more than 150 Leopard tanks to Kiev to form a nine-tank brigade.
Regarding the visit of Chinese president Xi Jinping to Moscow, US secretary of state Antony Blinken made it clear that the ceasefire in Ukraine was unacceptable.
On 21 March, the UK minister of state for defense Annabel Goldie announced the intention of London to send not only Challenger 2 tanks to Kiev, but also ammunition containing uranium.
Anatoly added that the EU had announced a funding of approximately USD 2 billion to purchase more than 1 million pieces of ammunition for the Ukrainian armed forces. Traditionally, money for these purposes will be taken from the European Peace Fund. Obviously, this is not a peace fund, but a war fund.
On 10 March 2023, British prime minister Rishi Sunak confirmed that the conflict would end at the negotiating table, but the decision depended on Ukraine. Our task is to strengthen Ukraine's position to hold this negotiation at the appropriate time.
On 10 March 2023, Lords of Parliament, Lord Dannatt, the former head of the British Armed Forces, said that the war's outcome could only be achieved on the battlefield. Therefore, Britain, NATO, the European Union and everyone in the West should support Ukraine to ensure Ukraine's military victory.
Anatoly Borovik added the presence of Western experts in Ukraine, and the supply of various weapons, has exacerbated the conflict, which threatens European security. These actions are solid evidence of Western aggression intentions that do not seek peace in Ukraine, regionally and globally. The West has the crazy idea of a strategic defeat on Russia and is ready to sacrifice the entire country as well as the lives of millions of innocent people, to achieve the target.
Such actions show that neither Kiev nor the West cares about resolving the conflict. They have turned Ukraine into a natural wildfire and are now a source of radiation pollution. Therefore, we will further continue our special military operations in order to achieve the goals and objectives set by the Russian leadership, Anatoly added.
