Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 27 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen, in his capacity as the president of the Cambodian People's Party (CPP), said that he had given senior positions to many leaders of Khmer Muslim community in various ministries and institutions at the national and sub-national levels.
The premier spoke during Iftar dinner with Malaysian prime minister Dato' Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim on Monday evening (Mar 27) at OCIC, Phnom Penh.
"In addition, as Cambodian prime minister and president of the CPP, I have given senior positions to many leaders of the Khmer Muslim community in various ministries and institutions at the national and sub-national levels," the premier underscored.
The premier continued that the Royal Government has also offered financial assistance and jobs as teacher to the Khmer Muslim community to boost the living standards of the community and the Khmer Muslim families through the promotion of education and human resources training in the fields of religion, technology, and innovation.
Samdech mentioned that during the Pol Pot regime and civil war, religious beliefs, especially Islam, were completely destroyed.
Taking this occasion, Samdech pointed out that through the implementation of a Win-win Policy, the Royal Government ended the civil war without bloodshed in order to restore and maintain peace for citizens as well as rapid development in all sectors. Lastly, Samdech pledged to maintain peace at all costs. Cambodia, formerly known as the Killing Fields, is an insecure area, a minefield that everyone fears, has now become an island of peace and a popular tourist destination. Cambodia, formerly a country facing poverty and food insecurity, has now become a food exporter and achieved high economic growth.
