Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 27 – Malaysian prime minister Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim paid a courtesy call on Cambodian president of the National Assembly Heng Samrin on Monday afternoon at the National Assembly.
On behalf of the National Assembly of Cambodia, Heng Samrin warmly welcomed the Malaysian counterpart and considered that the current official visit of the Malaysian prime minister will further contribute to the strengthening of good relations, friendship and good cooperation between the two nations, which has been established for more than six decades.
On that occasion, Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim thanked president Heng Samrin for the warm welcome and hospitality to the delegation. He underscored that his current visit will contribute to the strengthening of cooperation between the two countries in both the legislative and executive branches.
During the courtesy call, Heng Samrin noted that the two governments have cooperated well in both bilateral and regional frameworks as well as internationally. The legislatures of the two countries have also cooperated extensively in bilateral and multilateral frameworks. In addition, the two parliaments also supported each other on various regional and global inter-parliamentary forums.
The president thanked the Malaysian government and people for their contribution to the peace and development process in Cambodia. Through the Malaysian prime minister, Samdech Heng Samrin would like to convey his regards to leaders of the Malaysian Parliament, and underlined that the National Assembly of Cambodia is ready to cooperate closely with the Malaysian Parliament.
