Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 26 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen stated that the Royal Government of Cambodia considers digitalization in the public and private sectors as a priority to build a digital government, a digital economy, a digital society and digital people in line with regional and global trends for high socio-economic performance.
The premier spoke at the opening of the 1st National Day of Science, Technology and Innovation 2023, held on Sunday (Mar. 26) at Diamond Island.
On that occasion, the premier also praised and appreciated the efforts of the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology and Innovation, for initiating this event.
At the same time, Samdech called on the national and international community to join the Royal Government of Cambodia in all stages of the digital revolution, as clearly defined in the framework of the Cambodian Digital Economy and Society 2021-2035 and the Digital Government Policy 2022-2035.
According to premier Hun Sen, in the context of the COVID19 pandemic, global warming, geopolitical competition, trade wars and climate change, Samdech sees an increasingly important role of science, technology and innovation in maintaining sustainable economic growth and development and promoting the environmentally-friendly socio-economic development.
Samdech affirmed that the Royal Government of Cambodia has set out the Science, Technology and Innovation Policy 2020-2030 in order to build the foundation for the development of science and technology products as well as to participate in the process of creating new technologies in the future.
The Royal Government has launched the "Roadmap on Skills Development in Cambodia 2022-2035" and the National Research Agenda 2025 in order to address challenges and create opportunities for the public, private sector and the people of Cambodia, the premier added.
