Phnom Penh (FN), Mar. 20 – Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen said that Cambodia has undergone a series of reforms, including public administration reform and financial management reform, without any foreign assistances.

The premier spoke at the implementation of the Public Financial Management Reform Program Phase 4 (2023-2027), held on Monday (Mar 20) at Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel.

Cambodia has continued a series of reforms since being sanctioned, the premier added. According to the premier, the sanctions were imposed by those who supported the military coup and the Pol Pot genocidal regime at the United Nations.

Premier Hun Sen said, "we do not wait for the assistance of the European Union, the World Bank, IMF, the Asian Development Bank in order to have Cambodia reformed. We did it since we were being sanctioned.”

Samdech also recalled three pressures that affect political life and the reforms, including internal conflicts, inconsistency between Cambodia and Viet Nam’s economy, and sanctions from liberal countries.

At this point, Samdech drew the attention that in the past, the Vietnamese army came to Cambodia only to overthrow and prevent the Pol Pot regime, but at that time, Viet Nam has given Cambodia the opportunity to achieve political, economic and social relations.

On that occasion, premier Hun Sen added that the reform is not a joke, nor was it just a documented political campaign or election bidding, but Cambodia has done this work since its toughest time.
