Phnom Penh (FN), Feb. 23 – A renowned Japanese singer and actress Minamino Yoko, who has written and sung the "Rainbow for Tomorrow" for the friendship between Cambodia and Japan, planned to meet Cambodian orphans whom she met in 1989.

Minamino paid a courtesy call on Cambodian prime minister Hun Sen, held on Thursday morning (Feb 23) at the Peace Palace.

Minamino Yoko briefed the premier on her twice trips to the kingdom in 1989 and 2013 and was warmly welcomed by Cambodian citizens. Therefore, she decided to write and sing "Rainbow for Tomorrow", which describes Cambodia's reality when she first arrived in the kingdom.

In addition, in her capacity as a goodwill ambassador for the 70th Anniversary of the Japan-Cambodia Friendship, she pledged to strengthen relations between the two countries.

For his part, Samdech expressed his satisfaction with the two countries' relationship and cooperation. Samdech thanked Japan for encouraging investors to invest in Cambodia, for sending arbitrators to assist SEA Games to be hosted by Cambodia, as well as many other aids provided by Japan.

Lastly, Samdech Techo also thanked Minamino Yoko for writing and singing "Rainbow for Tomorrow" which reflects the reality of Cambodia in the past. The song had touched the heart of premier Hun Sen when it was presented to him at a dinner hosted by his Japanese premier Fumio Kishida in April 2022 in Japan during the 4th Asia-Pacific Water Summit.
